Vijay Motors launches unique Social Initiative - Give Life Give Blood !

 

At a function to mark its commitment to development of music in Nepal ( Chevrolet Concert Series), Annie Gardner Vaidya, Executive Director of Vijay Motors unveiled Give Life Give Blood, a blood initiative at the Moksh, Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory on September 18th.

Vijay Motors, the Sole Distributor for General Motors in Nepal has forged a unique association with the Central Blood Transfusion Service, that manages the Blood Bank.

“In our endeavour to increase the database and blood donors pool, we have launched a 24 hour SMS Helpline” said Annie Vaidya. Potential donors can send in an SMS by typing BLOOD on 2426 and they will be immediately contacted by a team member from Vijay Motors.

People who may be in need of blood can also use this service to find potential donors which we will facilitate for them as well.

Speaking at the function, Dr. Manita Rajkarnikar, Executive Director at the Central Blood Transfusion Service, applauded the initiative. “ There is always need for blood donors and besides Corporate Social Initiatives such as this will no doubt help in raising awareness amongst citizens”, she further mentioned.

As a part of the campaign, Vijay Motors has also announced a Blood Donation Camp for October 10, 2010 at the Chevrolet Showroom, Naxal.

The initiative was launched at the Chevrolet Concert Series at Moksh where Albatross, a popular Nepali band, much revered by the youth played for those who attended that evening, in support of the event. The ANBUG Beetle Association members were also present and ended a day long rally they had done that day ,at Moksh, to support the event and to sign up on the data base as potential donors for those in need.
