Subaru Dominates Tasmania SUV Sales:(June 6, 2016)

Subaru dominated the Sports Utility Vehicle market in Tasmania in May while taking overall market share of 9.8% on the island, according to the official VFACTS sales figures.Total Subaru sales of 148 in Tasmania in May were up an incredible 74.1%. Subaru placed 2nd in the overall Tasmanian market, behind market leader Toyota.

Sales of 74 Foresters were up by 289.5% over May last year, making it the best-selling model in the SUV Medium <$60K segment – a 32.3% segment share. Forester sales for the year are now up 68.1% in Tasmania.

XV sold 39, up 77.3% for the month. It was also dominant in the SUV Small<$40K segment, with a 25.5% share.

It was the first time ever that Subaru has taken out leadership of the small, medium, and large SUV categories anywhere in the world.

Subaru SUVs Best Sellers in South Australia: (June 6, 2016)

Subaru sales of 336 in South Australia were up a remarkable 46.7% in May, according to official VFACTS figures. The brand’s 5.6% market share in SA outperformed its national figures of 4.1%.

Star performer was the Forester, with 142 sales, up 158.2% on the same month last year and now ahead 87.6% for the year-to-date (YTD). Forester was the best-selling Medium SUV under $60K, with an 18.3% segment share.

XV sales of 90 were up 83.7% for the month and 26.2% YTD. Its 16% segment share made it the best seller in the SUV Small <$40K category.

FHI Announces First Half Financial Results for FYE2016


 Tokyo, November 5, 2015 – Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, today announced its consolidated financial results for the first half of fiscal year ending March 31, 2016.

Subaru’s consolidated global unit sales rose 9.4% to 472,000 units. While mini vehicle sales posted an increase, unit sales in Japan fell 7.0% to 67,000 units as passenger car sales decreased due to a decline in launch momentum of new models. Overseas unit sales grew 12.7% to 406,000 units, driven by continued high demand for the Legacy and Outback, especially in North America.
FHI’s consolidated net sales rose 22.2% to 1,601.5 billion yen due to foreign exchange gains, unit sales growth and other factors.
Consolidated global unit sales marked a record high for the first-half period.*1 Consolidated net sales, overseas unit sales and North American unit sales each posted a record high for any half-year period.*1

As increases in SG&A and R&D expenses were offset by exchange rate gains, unit sales growth, cost reduction progress and other factors, operating income rose 53.6% to 285.1 billion yen while ordinary income grew 62.0% to 285.0 billion yen and net income attributable to owners of parent increased 70.9% to 193.2 billion yen.

Full-year projections are revised upward to net sales of 3,210 billion yen, operating income of 550 billion yen, ordinary income of 547 billion yen, and net income attributable to owners of parent of 372 billion yen. Consolidated unit sales in North America are projected to reach a record high for the seventh consecutive year.*2
Consolidated global unit sales, overseas unit sales, net sales and all profit figures are projected to post record highs for the fourth consecutive year.*2

Based on the consolidated financial results for the first half and consolidated financial forecasts for the full year, FHI plans to pay interim and year-end dividends of 72 yen per share each.
Accordingly, the annual dividend for FYE2016 will be 144 yen per share, an increase of 76 yen from 68 yen of the previous year.

FHI Receives Securities Analysts’ Award
for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure for Second Consecutive Year

Tokyo, October 7, 2015 – Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, has been selected as the top company in the “automobile, auto parts and tires” category of the 2015 Awards for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure presented by the Securities Analysts Association of Japan (SAAJ). This is the second consecutive year that FHI has received this award.

The Excellence in Corporate Disclosure Awards have been presented by the SAAJ every year since 1995 with the goal of improving corporate information disclosure. This year marks the 21st year that the award program has been held. Companies are evaluated by securities analysts of each sector on the basis of the following five criteria:
1) management’s stance on investor relations, the function of a corporation’s investor relations department, and basic stance of a corporation’s investor relations; 2) disclosures through briefings, interviews, and explanatory materials; 3) fairness in disclosure; 4) disclosure related to corporate governance; and 5) voluntary disclosure that conforms to conditions of each industry.

STI Releases “S207” Limited-Edition “WRX STI” in Japan

Tokyo, October 28, 2015 – Subaru Tecnica International (STI),*1 the motorsports division of Fuji Heavy Industries, will launch a limited-edition model based on the “WRX STI” on December 1, 2015. Just 400 units of the model, dubbed the “S207”, will be available.

Taking the WRX STI as its base, this complete car from STI features exclusive engine and suspension tuning as well as distinctive interior and exterior design. Embracing the STI concept of offering the ultimate in road driving, the S207 stands at the pinnacle of the STI complete car lineup and aims to be the world’s most enjoyable vehicle, providing a feel-good experience to all those who travel in it regardless of road conditions and enhancing driver skill.

Special engine tuning boosts maximum power output to 328 PS. Handling is enhanced by a quick steering-gear ratio of 11:1, the addition of original STI components including a flexible tower bar, DampMatic® II front suspension with adjustable damping (a first for a Japanese automaker), and front-rear Active Torque Vectoring, all of which combine to achieve a strong yet flexible ride and sharp cornering. Jica president to visit Nepal from May 24-26

- POST REPORT, Kathmandu

May 22, 2015-Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) President Akihiko Tanaka and his team is all set to visit Nepal from May 24-26 to exchange views on rehabilitation and reconstruction process.

During the visit, Jica and the Nepal government will jointly organise “Build Back Better Reconstruction Seminar for Nepal” on May 25.

“The seminar is intended to share the current situation of the earthquake, and to exchange information and expertise including the practical experiences of Japanese rehabilitation and reconstruction process and methodology in order to realize Build Back Better in Nepal, which are highlighted principle

after Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction held in March this year in Sendai,” read a Jica statement.

Tanaka will also discuss further Jica assistance to the reconstruction and rehabilitation plan with dignitaries of the government, and will call on Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat.

According to Jica, following the devastating earthquake in Nepal on April 25, the Japanese government has granted $14 million to Nepal as emergency grant.

After the earthquake, the Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) rescue team was deployed at Kathmandu Durbar Square, Gongabu and Sankhu.

Similarly, a JDR medical team was deployed at Bahrabise of Sindhupalchowk, and a JDR self-defence team was deployed in various areas of Kathmandu in coordination with the Nepal Army.

Another mission team is holding discussions with the government on preparing policies and programmes of recovery and reconstruction.

Tokyo, May 19, Tokyo - Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, today announced a donation of 3 million yen to the Japanese Red Cross to support relief efforts in Nepal in the wake of the earthquake that struck the country in April.
